Summer Season and harvest time

Well we are into our summer season here at the "Plains". One crop of potatoes have been harvested in time for Christmas and the second crop should be ready for Easter. The Oats have been reaped and stooked and the grass seed is being mowed . The printing works shop area is having a new verander put on it as well. So come on down and wander around the domain.You could have a picnic lunch and then have a ride in the railcar and view the stooks of oats in our paddock .
We have now added pictures some of our tractors and Traction Engine in the 'Stock' section of our website .Enjoy

Labour Weekend Running

We will now be running on both the 25th and 26th of October, or the Sunday and Monday of Labour Weekend.
Both days will see the running of Rogers 'K' 88 (unless circumstances dictate otherwise).
We hope to see you then!

Running Day Details

Details of the loco being used on the running days October - February are now available. See our 'Running' page for more.
Locos are, as always, subject to change with running commencing at 11am and finishing at 4pm.
Details for March-June running will be available later in the year/early 2010.

2009-2010 Running Season now online

The dates for our 2009-2010 running season are now online. You can view them on our 'Running' page. Regular visitors to The Plains will notice that our running season has been extended, with extra running throughout January and February and also a December running day.
Locomotives are yet to be decided so a further notice will appear here when the information becomes available.

A return to Steam...

The Plains Railway and Historical Mueseum began its steam running season this past weekend, with Rogers 'K' 88 doing the honours. Over the summer months our Vulcan Railcar, RM 50, has performed admirably and gave rides to a large number of passengers who chose to brave the heat and come to the Plains for a ride on the train.
Our next running day will be Easter Sunday, we hope to see you then!

New Look Website!

Welcome all to The Plains Museums brand new website!
As you can tell, the look of the site has been improved, with core functionality also made better. Most photos on the site are 'click to enlarge', and if you have javascript enabled (most browsers do by default) you want be taken away from the page you are on, try it out on any of our pages!
The image gallery has also seen a large upgrade, and now allows members of the society to add their own images and albums!
If you want to add your photos, why not become a society member? Our membership form can be downloaded from the 'MEMBERS' link on the menu!
